Viewing AR Hotspots

Yulio’s Augmented Reality (AR) hotspots feature can help bridge the gap between virtual reality (VR) and physical reality by enabling you to show how products or other design elements in your VR experience will interact with your clients real world space. With our AR hotspot feature, you can incorporate AR hotspots into your VR experience to see elements in full 360, and take it one step further by using your VR headset, tablet or iPhone/Android to actually see the product as a digital overlay in the physical space around you.

How to View an AR Hotspot on your Desktop

Begin by clicking on the AR hotspot. When the hotspot opens, the AR model will center on screen.

Click and drag your cursor or finger across the model to rotate the model, or reset your view back to the original position by selecting the reset icon in the bottom right hand corner. 

To view the model in true AR and interact with the model in your physical space, select the View in AR button.

If you are viewing the model on your desktop/laptop, you will need your smartphone or tablet to scan the QR code. On most smartphones, you can simply open your camera app and point it at the QR code to scan.

When you scan the QR code on your smartphone, it will prompt you to open the AR model link at vr.yulio.com

When you open the link, the AR model will appear in your internet browser on your device. To view in AR and insert the digital model into your physical space, select the View in AR button.

From there, your object will appear in your real world environment using augmented reality. You can manipulate the object by moving it around and resizing it to fit your space.

To go back to your VR experience, on your desktop select the arrow in the top left hand corner.

How to View an AR Hotspot on your Smartphone or Tablet

Begin by clicking on the AR hotspot. You will then be prompted to open the AR model.

After opening the model, the object will appear in your real world environment using augmented reality. Use your fingers to move and resize the object to fit your space.

To go back to your VR experience, select the X button in the top left hand corner.

How to View an AR Hotspot on your VR Headset

To view an AR hotspot from a VR headset, your headset must have a camera for mixed reality capabilities. The Meta Quest 3 and 3S have full color cameras for AR and mixed reality purposes. 

Begin by selecting the hotspot using your hand controllers. You will need to use your hand controllers to interact with the AR object.

After opening the model, the object will appear in your real world environment using augmented reality. Look down at your hand controllers to see how the various buttons on your hand controllers can control the object’s movement. Use those buttons to move and resize the object to fit your space.  

To go back to your VR experience, select the Back to scene button.
